Desert trips
Dahab is surrounded by Sinai’s endless desert plains and mountain spurs, which can be explored on horseback (even for beginners), quad bike, motorcycle, camel, by jeep or on foot.
The Bedouins organise a choice of treks, varying from short excursions of a few hours to treks taking up several days; you may find yourself having dinner prepared for you far away from the populated world, and sleeping under the starry sky.
Particularly recommended is a visit to the ancient monastery of Saint Catherine, a holy place for Jews, Christians and Muslims alike. From Dahab, a two-hour drive takes you to the site of Moses’ Burning Bush and the location where Moses received the Ten Commandments. You will also be able to climb Mount Sinai from here, or witness the most spectacular sunrise at dawn.
